Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary made an astonishing revelation in the Lok Sabha on Monday (25.11.2024) informing the Lower House that a total of 853 Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers have taken VRS in the last 10 years. Chaudhary made this disclosure in the Parliament through a written reply.
According to him, 383 IRS (Income Tax) officers and 470 IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officers took the retirement under VRS during 2014-2024. It bears significance as it happened during the last ten years of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.
