In a written reply to Lok Sabha on Wednesday, the Centre informed that in last five years, 1195 candidates from reserved and backward categories have been appointed as IAS, IPS, and IFS officers.
Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh stated that among these appointments, 233 officers were appointed in 2018, 231 in 2019, 223 in 2020, 250 in 2021, and 258 in 2022. Recruitment processes are overseen by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in accordance with applicable regulations.
Current guidelines mandate reservations for Scheduled Castes (15 percent), Scheduled Tribes (7.5 percent), and Other Backward Classes (27 percent) in the recruitment of IAS, IPS, and IFS officers. The provided data details the distribution of appointments across various categories and years.
