SC Collegium reiterates proposal to retain Justice Ramendra Jain in Punjab & Haryana HC

The Supreme Court Collegium has passed a resolution reiterating that Justice Ramendra Jain be retained as a judge in his parent High Court of Punjab and Haryana.

As intimated in the resolution, following his initial appointment as an additional judge of the High Court in April 2015, the Centre had referred a proposal for his transfer to the Karnataka High Court to the Chief Justice of India.

However, the Collegium opined that there as no reason warranting such a transfer given that Justice Ramendra Jain was performing well. Therefore, in July 2017, the Collegium had recommended that he be allowed to continue in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

This recommendation has now been reiterated by the Collegium, after the Centre requested that the Collegium reconsider its decision.
