Sanjay Barve appointed new Mumbai Police Commissioner

Sanjay Barve (IPS:1987:MH) has been appointed as new Commissioner of Police Mumbai. Barve replaced Subodh Jaiswal, who took over as new DGP of Maharashtra. He assumed charge immediately after his appointment order was issued by the Home Department.

Barve was Deputy General of Police (DGP), Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau, till now. He has earlier served as Additional Police Commissioner Mumbai besides other top posts in the state and city police.

Shortly after taking over as the new city police commissioner, which is equivalent to the rank of DGP, Barve said that his priorities would be curbing crime, including cyber frauds and economic offences, in Mumbai.
