Pankaj Saran (IFS:1982) has been appointed as Deputy National Security Advisor by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet for a period of two years.
Saran is currently posted in Moscow as ambassador to Russia since January 2017. Prior to his deputation in Moscow, he was the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh from March 2012 to December 2015.
He was the joint secretary in PMO, New Delhi from 2007 to 2012. He has served at Indian missions in Moscow, Dhaka, Washington D.C. and Cairo.
