The Governor Satya Pal Malik appointed K K Sharma (IAS:1983:AGMUT) as his fourth Advisor. Sharma, a retired IAS officer, had also served as the Chief Secretary in Goa and Delhi and Secretary Higher Education in the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India. Sharma, who belongs to the Jammu region, will be the second non J&K cadre IAS officer appointed as an Advisor to the Governor after K Vijay Kumar. Other two Advisors viz., B B Vyas and Khurshid Ahmed Ganai are J&K cadre IAS officers.
After the appointment of 4th Advisor, the Governor Satya Pal Malik is likely to reshuffle the portfolios of his present three advisors and allot some of the portfolios held by them to new advisor KK Sharma.
